Events and readings 2021

 

9th October. Launch of Earth Days Numbered and Counting Down the Days at Kendal Museum, Station Rd, Kendal LA9 6BT. With Elizabeth Hare, Barbara Hickson, Joy Howard and Ilse Pedler. First live Grey Hen event since 2019…

7th October. Shortland Poetry Circle are hosting a celebratory Zoom reading, with Ann Drysdale, Joy Howard, Ruth Smith and Anne Stewart reading the poems they have  contributed to Grey Hen over the years All of the the twenty one anthologies will be covered.

Zoom readings from all four of the landscape chapbooks are being planned for this year. The first was on 3rd June and will showcase contributors from Cumbria. This was followed by another on 6th August and featured contributors from the London area. Many thanks to Kathleen Jones and Anne Stewart  for hosting.

All ten launch readings from Reflected Light were planned as Zoom events. Many thanks for hosting to Hermione Sandall at In the Loop, Anne Stewart, Veronica Aaronson at PoetryTeignmouth, Lindy Newns, Jane Monach  at Writers in the Bath, Hamish and Rebecca at The Garsdale Retreat, Fran Reader at Suffolk Poetry Society and Rosemary Doman for keeping us going.

 

Events and readings 2020

Since the cancellation of everything planned for this year, including the event listed below, Grey Hen has only been able to put on Zoom events – so far all launch readings from Reflected Light, which was published in October (see ‘Books’ page).  It’s looking likely that 2021 will  follow that trend.

9th March. Joy Howard and Kerry Darbishire take part in ‘The Arty Show’ on BBC Cumbria 7-9 pm.  Postponed.

22nd March at Teignmouth Poetry Festival. Jennie Osborne presents Grey Hen poets in a reading from several of the anthologies, including the latest, Out of Context. With Veronica Aaronson, Sheila Aldous, Rose Cook, Gill McEvoy and Susan Taylor. 2.30-3.30 pm

23rd April at Grange-over-Sands library. A reading with various Grey Hen poets (tba) for World Book Day. 7-8.30
